January 31st scrimmage cancelled

Note:

The January 31, 2013 scrimmage at OLL with Irvington has been cancelled.

Coach Bob wants to remind everyone that there will be a regular practice that night instead.

Coming events:

• Wednesday, January 30th   bout with Arlington at Arlington High School, bus transportation to be provided after school from Lourdes, parent pickup afterwards at Arlington High School.

• Thursday, January 31st  bout with Irvington is cancelled, we will have a regular practice that evening.

• 2nd Super Saturday at Clarkstown North High School, February 2, 2013.  

• OLL high school fencing fundraiser February 23rd and 24th, see flyer below.

• Save the date, Saturday, March 23, 2013 possible end of season fencing dinner.

Awards will be given to the top three fencers in each competition. If you would like to, teams can be made up of four fencers. The team with the highest ranking will win a $100 prize for their school. Team and individual trophies will be awarded.*

The Epee tournament on January 26, 2013 will change location from Nyack High School to Clarkstown North High School.

Coach Bob wants all Epee fencers to be at Clarkstown North High School Annex on Congers Road at 8:30 a.m.

From NY State Thruway West take the PALISADES PKWY NORTH exit, EXIT 13N, toward BEAR MTN.

Take EXIT 10 toward N MIDDLETOWN RD/NEW CITY/NANUET.

Turn RIGHT onto GERMONDS RD.

Turn LEFT onto NY-304 N/S MAIN ST. Continue to follow NY-304 N.

Turn RIGHT onto NEW CITY-CONGERS RD/CR-80.

End at 151 Congers Rd New City, NY 10956-6250

*** The Annex gym is in the back of the school. After entering main parking lot, stay to the right around tennis courts. Continue to the bottom and the gym entrance will be on the left.

Two New Events!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013 fencing bout with Irvington @ Irvington High School, after school, a bus will be provided to Irvington and will return to OLL afterwards.

Thursday, January 31, 2013 after school Irvington will come to Lourdes to fence.     

THERE WILL BE NO FENCING DURING EXAM WEEK, JANUARY 21 THROUGH JANUARY 28. 

 Remember, Epee tournament on Saturday, January 26, and Super Saturday, February 2, 2013

 

DIRECTIONS TO NYACK HIGH SCHOOL

Nyack High School -
360 Christian Herald Road, Upper Nyack, NY 10960

From NYC, Westchester & Connecticut - Take Thruway to Tappan Zee Bridge:
Get off EXIT 11 (Nyack)
Go one block to first traffic light (Route 9W)
Turn left onto Route 9W NORTH
Proceed approximately one mile - on the left you will see the HS, but you cannot enter from Rte. 9W, heading north
Proceed straight to the traffic light
Turn left onto Christian Herald Road
Continue on Christian Herald Road (past athletic fields)
Turn LEFT into HS parking lot

From Upstate:
Take Thruway to Exit 11
Light at end of ramp is Route 59
Make a left ­ go to traffic light (Route 9w)
Make a left onto Rte 59 and proceed as above

The Super Saturday at Nyack is scheduled for this weekend, 8:15 a.m. Saturday, January  12, 2013!

• List of items needed for the day:
• • It is a long day, bring water, snacks, lunch items.  The scrimmage usually runs until @ 4:00 p.m.
• • Fencing gear (if you have it)
• • Team socks, jacket & knickers (MUST BE CLEAN), under arm protector for all, chest protector for women, lame, body cord, weapon, glove, mask, suitable footwear.
  • Team jacket, team tee shirt
  • Sweats, comfortable clothing for after the scrimmage
  We will be meeting at a local diner (to be specified later) after the scrimmage.  

The Epee tournament at Nyack originally scheduled for this Saturday, January 5, 2013 has been postponed until January 26, 2013.  Coach Bob will provide further information.  

The Super Saturday at Nyack is still scheduled for next weekend, Saturday, January  12, 2013!
